Can I use a guitar processor for vocal effects?
This would just be for my personal use-not for live singing. Yes, you could run vocals through a pedal. You simply need to run a microphone with a quarter inch plug into the input of the guitar pedal and then run another cable from the output of the pedal into the P.A. system. But they do make voice processors. I've used one myself for effects during shows. Skye O | Read more Is it possible to use vocal harmony processors as a guitar effect? Instrument harmonizers don't track very well. Vocal effects track excellent. My thoughts were to use a better tracking effect with instruments. Why not use the two together? The reason instrument harmonizers don't track well is due to harmonics and overtones inherent in the instrument. The human voice has less harmonic and overtone characteristics. That's what makes the difference. If you were to use vocal harmony processors on a guitar, you would have the same problems as instrument harmonizers. Hence, the reason for multi-tracking instruments in recording. The only reason to use harmonizers would be to enhance live performance, right? It would be senseless to do so on a recording when you can get a clean track via multi-tracking voices or instrument. (also if you are looking to donate or become a sponsor please respond ;) ... ) well berger king if you're ever in the OH area we could jam. as far as getting the tc i'm still not sure. it is a good bit of money but i'm wondering if its worth it. after reading about it i'm pretty impressed but never really seen it in action. i mean if it can take a decent voice to sounding good it might be worth scraping up the money but if it just adds to someone that can already sing i'll probly be saving the money. the tc helicon is THE BEST of the best. i have always want one but couldnt really afford it. if you get it ill be extremely jealous. maybe we can jam sometime ;) Greg | Read more Can you use a guitar equalizer pedal on vocals? I'm shooting for a vocal effect/processor that will attain a nice rhasp without bringing too many mid's into the sound. I want to cut the mids off, and have something similar to a white zombie sound on vocals. I know that there are chords that will take mic cable to the 1/4 cable. Is this possible though? Would It sound horrible? Thnx. The difference between guitars and mics is bigger than just the cables. A mic's low impedance signal will be susceptible to noise and distortion if connected to a guitar pedal which expects to see a high impedance signal. And mic level is MUUUUUCH lower than instrument level, so that means more noise and a weak signal. AND a mic cable is balanced, so it's possible that you'll get zero signal anyway with the unbalanced guitar pedal. A better idea might be to look for a cheap mic preamp with built-in EQ.
